About the Random Team Generator

This tool generates a random competitive Pokémon Showdown team for any Smogon or VGC format. Pokémon are picked weighted by their usage rate from the top-30 pool, so top-tier threats appear more often while still allowing surprise picks. Each Pokémon's item, ability, moves, and EV spread are also chosen weighted by usage from Smogon usage statistics. The result is a real, copy-paste-ready team for Pokémon Showdown.

OU (Overused)

Smogon's main singles format. The most-played tier on Pokémon Showdown.

VGC 2025

Official Video Game Championships doubles format used in tournaments worldwide.

UU (Underused)

Pokémon that aren't common enough for OU but still compete in a deep meta.

Ubers

No bans. Legendaries and mythicals are fair game.

Doubles OU

Smogon doubles. Bring 4 of 6 and play 2v2.

National Dex OU

OU with Pokémon and moves from all previous generations re-enabled.

How it works

Each roll fetches the latest Smogon usage stats for your chosen format (cached for 6 hours). It samples from the top-30 usage pool, so higher-usage Pokémon appear more often, but niche picks can still show up. Each Pokémon's item, ability, nature, EVs, and four moves are also chosen weighted by usage. The result is valid Pokémon Showdown export format ready to paste into the teambuilder.

Save any roll to crob.at for a shareable link with sprites, or copy the raw export to paste straight into Showdown. Generated teams are a starting point. Swap things around to fit your playstyle.
